Winner’s Showcase!
The BEA Festival of Media Arts sponsored seven faculty competitions and eight student competitions this year. We received a record 913 submissions from 132 colleges and universities (128 entries from faculty and 785 entries from students).To view or listen to a winning audio, video, or website entries online, click Faculty Competitions or Student Competitions on the menu bar and chose a competition from the drop down menu.
A total of 192 entries, representing 71 colleges and universities, were accepted into the 2011 Festival of Media Arts. Winners will be recognized and their works screened during the Festival, which will take place during the Broadcast Education Association’s annual convention in Las Vegas, April 9-13, 2011.

On behalf of 19 dedicated volunteers who served as competition chairs, hundreds of industry professionals and faculty judges who reviewed the entries, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Festival of Media Arts Committee, thank you for creating and submitting such an amazing and diverse body of creative scholarship.

Faculty Award Designations and Acceptance Rates
The following awards are typically designated for winners in each of the faculty competitions:
BEA Best of Festival King Foundation Award – The top-ranked entry in each of the faculty competitions (across all categories) is eligible to receive the BEA Best of Festival King Foundation Award. Best of Festival winners receive a $1,000 cash award from the Charles and Lucille King Family Foundation, editing software from Avid, and will be honored during a special awards ceremony on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the BEA convention. This year, six entrants were selected to receive the Festival of Media Art’s highest honor in recognition of their outstanding scholarship and contribution to the media arts.

Best of Competition Award – The top-ranked entry in each competition category is eligible to receive a Best of Competition award.
Award of Excellence – All other entries (second-ranked or lower) are eligible to receive an Award of Excellence.
The Festival targets an acceptance rate of 20% for our top awards. Information about faculty competition acceptance rates is available in the Festival of Media Arts Annual Report. The 2011 report will be posted online shortly after the BEA convention in April.
Student Award Designations

This year, nine student entrants were selected to receive the Festival of Media Arts highest honor in recognition of their outstanding academic work.
